SBE's third Philippe starck-designed Katsuya restaurant debuted in May 2008 in Caruso Affiliate’s mixed use shopping, dining and residential development. With incredibly spacious indoor/outdoor dining overlooking the magnificent promenade of the recently-opened The Americana at Brand, Katsuya Glendale is the largest location of SBE’s Katsuya collection to date. Designed by Philippe Starck to resemble a Japanese pagoda, the restaurant’s main floor includes an expansive outdoor patio and facing cocktail and sushi bars, while the second floor features a dramatic dining room. Katsuya represents the prodigious pairing of the supreme talents of master sushi chef Katsuya Uechi and world-renowned designer Philippe Starck. The Sushi Bar is where celebrated chef Katsuya Uechi practices his trade of creating sushi masterpieces, using the freshest ingredients to create a dizzying array of custom rolls and spectacular sushi and sashimi platters. The Katsuya “Liquid Kitchen” creates some of California’s most intriguing and sought-after cocktails. While maintaining a feeling of intimacy, the restaurant is rather grand in size, accommodating up to 340 guests. A Private dinning room for 8-10 guests, with premier dual views of the promenade, is also available, and the upstairs Dragon Lounge Features specialty cocktails and a DJ for large parties and special occasions.
